About the Havanese
Following the Cuban Revolution, many Havanese were brought to the United States by exiles, and the breed has since spread throughout Europe, gaining popularity steadily across the continent. This small toy breed stands 23–28 centimetres tall and weighs 5–7 kilograms, displaying a gently elongated body beneath a distinctive long, silky, wavy double coat. The coat comes in numerous colours, from cream and white to chocolate and gold, as well as striking multicoloured combinations. Importantly, the Havanese is a non-shedding breed, though it does require regular brushing to maintain its beautiful appearance, or can be kept in a shorter clip with professional grooming. In temperament, the Havanese excels as a companion dog, thriving on human contact and typically getting along excellently with children, other dogs, and cats. Intelligent and playful, these dogs respond well to positive training methods. They require only moderate daily exercise, up to 30 minutes, making them ideal for apartment living and suitable for a wide variety of households. However, they dislike prolonged solitude and flourish best with owners who can provide regular interaction.
