About the Korthals Griffon
This large breed stands 51–61 centimetres at the shoulder and weighs 25–34 kilograms, featuring a distinctive harsh, wiry coat in steel-grey or grey and brown with chestnut markings. Their characteristic bushy eyebrows, moustache, and beard give them an intelligent, thoughtful expression. The coat requires regular hand-stripping or trimming to maintain its protective texture and appearance. Temperamentally, Korthals Griffons are gentle, eager to please, and deeply loyal companions. They combine strong working drive with genuine affection for their families, making them rewarding pets for the right owners. These energetic dogs require more than two hours of daily exercise and substantial mental stimulation to thrive. They excel in active households where owners can engage them in field sports or other challenging activities. With a lifespan of 10–12 years, the Korthals Griffon represents an excellent choice for experienced dog owners seeking both a capable working partner and devoted family member.
